They say good things come in small packages and that’s definitely the case for MINI. They’ve just unveiled their John Cooper Works model, the most powerful car in its range and it’s due to go on sale in July.
Named after the famous racing driver and MINI tuner, the JWC models’ turbocharged 1.6 litre engine has been upgraded to 211bhp and covers 0-62mph in 6.5 seconds.
If the new version seems a little sporty it’s because modifications to the JCW MINIs have been adopted from the racing version including a sports suspension and stronger brakes.
The new John Cooper Works MINI cuts quite a dash with its 17-inch alloy wheels and JCW logos. The makeover extends all the way inside the car to its leather sports steering wheel, upgraded stereo and speedometer that reads all the way to 160mph.

Ryanair has hit out at claims that it is breaching Office of Fair Trading standards, arguing that it has fully complied with the Office of Fair Trading’s pricing rules.
The budget carrier says it is now displaying prices inclusive of taxes, fees and charges on its website after making changes to the site at the weekend.
A spokesperson said that due to ‘bedding problems’ it was only able to display the correct prices today.
The airline has apologised to its customers for technical problems which have temporarily reduced access to the site.
Commenting ion the situation, Ryanair’s head of communications Peter Sherrard said:
“We are continuing to make significant progress with the cut over to the New Skies system. However we expect further bedding down problems over the next day or two and we ask all our passengers to be patient with us, as we complete the largest ever software changeover undertaken by any airline, anywhere in the world.”
ABTA is rejecting Ryanair’s latest claims, however saying: “It’s not until you’ve selected your actual flight that you see the inclusive price. We don’t believe this is in line with the OFT’s guidelines.”

Thousands of passengers clicking on to Ryanair’s new website face an upset when they discover their bargain 1p flight tots up to a rather heftier €120.
The airline’s new website continues to flout Office of Fair Trading’s pricing rules by failing to display inclusive prices, despite pledging to make the changes.
The old website was switched off over the weekend for technical reasons and promised that it would use the opportunity to make the switch to inclusive pricing.
The Association of British Travel Agents (ABTA) has already blasted the airline for failing to comply. Commenting on the situation, Simon Bunce ABTA’s head of legal services said:
“Clearly, despite working on their website all weekend, they still don’t have the technology. Either that or they just don’t care about how they deal with their customers. The OFT must have had its patience sorely tested by Ryanair and we urge them to ensure that holidaymakers can trust the prices they are given so that they can make valid comparisons when choosing their travelling arrangements.”
When it comes to displaying all-inclusive prices, it looks like the budget airline needs to take a leaf out of Argus Car Hire’s book! The prices on our car hire web pages are always transparent, meaning what you see is what you pay!
