24 Hour Strike Threatens Irish Airports

Argus car hire customers flying in or out of an Irish Airport next week should check their travel diaries now.  Air traffic controllers are staging a one-day strike on Thursday 28th February.
The one-day strike means that there will be no flights in or out of Irish airports.  International aircraft will be banned from Irish air space also for the day.

The contollers’ union IMPACT served notice on the Irish Aviation Authority that it will cease work for 24 hours at Dublin, Cork and Shannon airports from 12.01am on Thursday.
Air traffic controllers say their dispute with the Irish Aviation Authority is over staff shortages in the service. Meanwhile, the IAA is insisting that the row is about rosters and overtime.
In a statement, IMPACT said it regrets that talks with the IAA failed to produce agreement on sustainable solutions to chronic staffing shortages and this made their action necessary.
