Ryanair to Offer £10 Transatlantic Flights
Budget carrier Ryanair is planning to use the current economic climate as a springboard to launch a new transatlantic airline offering cheap flights to the US from just £10 a trip.
Ryanair’s dream of setting up a sister airline to compete with established carriers is set to become a reality on the back of the current industry downturn.
The airline believes that the crisis in the aviation industry and the probability of more airlines collapsing is set to lower the cost of aircraft, with a host of unwanted planes set to flood the market.
Airline boss Michael O’ Leary first mooted the idea of Ryanair getting involved in the transatlantic market last year, with critics believing it to be just another one of O’ Leary’s pie in the sky ideas.
O’ Leary has already proved that his vision is more than a pipe dream. Over the past year he has been working hard to put together a business plan targeting routes while waiting for the airline industry to crash and burn.
Likely US destinations include New York, Boston, San Diego, Denver and Dallas.
According to O’ Leary, the new airline could be up and running and offering flights across the pond within two and a half years.
