All Systems Go for Dublin Tourism

Posted on January 25, 2008 by Fiona Hilliard

The Dublin Regional Tourism Authority has just published its Tourism Plan cover for the period from 2008 to 2010.  The ambitious strategy aims to grow overseas visitor numbers by 6.5% per annum, and associated revenue by 8% annually.  According to projected figures, by 2010 5.5 million visitors are expected to visit the Irish capital, generating projected revenue of around €2 billion.

The plan represents an enthusiastic call to action by the tourism authority to keep itself afloat in the fiercely competitive city break industry.  Under the terms of the business plan, Dublin is set to hit fourth position, amongst the likes of Barcelona, Vienna and Amsterdam.  Meanwhile London, Paris, Rome and Prague continue to be in a league of their own in terms of high visitor numbers.  Tourism chiefs will continue to concentrate their main marketing focus on the over 55-age group in Britain, North America and Central Europe.
