Antigua Launches New Tourism Campaign

Posted on February 21, 2008 by Fiona Hilliard

The beautiful eastern Caribbean island of Antigua is launching a brand new tourism drive, with plans to expand its airport already underway.  A new carousel and four more check-in stations have already been added and daily flights from Miami are also on the cards.

A spruced-up website is also due to go live in mid-March.  Demand for travel to Antigua in the UK and US markets is going well, however travel from the Caribbean is currently down, a fact that many associate with the new US passport initiative.

Commenting on the fresh campaign, Harold Lovell, Minister of Tourism and Civil Aviation for Antigua and Barbuda said:

“We are seriously looking at re-branding indigenous and local attractions to make them more accessible to the visitor.  This will yet be another way the Antiguan people can interact with tourists, showcase the famous Antiguan hospitality and friendliness plus deliver real economic benefit to the local communities.”

One of the best ways to explore this paradise island is with Antigua car hire.  Check out the following link for more information:
