BA Strikes Likely Next Week
Posted on May 20, 2010 by Fiona Hilliard
Remember what I said about “watching this space” for BA strikes?
I can reveal that walk-outs by British Airways crew now look set to go ahead next week…
How come, wasn’t it all sorted out?
The u-turn comes in the wake of the court of appeal’s decision to support Unite cabin crew union against an injunction granted to the airline on Monday.
Earlier this week, a judge ruled in favour of the airline by ruling that an issue over spoilt ballot papers meant the planned five day walk-outs could not go ahead.
That decision has been quashed on appeal this morning.
Staff may strike as early as Monday, May 24th if negotiations between union leaders and the airline break down.
Unite had threatened to ballot again over working conditions, jobs and pay if it lost the appeal.
Unite was due to begin striking on Tuesday this week, culminating on May 22nd, with three other strikes set to take place on may 24, may 30 and June 5.
You have been warned!
