British Beaches Down With the Kids

Britain may be tops with over 65s but one in ten five to 12-year-olds have never set foot on a British Beach, according to a survey by hotel chain Travelodge.
A poll of 2000 children in this age range showed that more had visited European coastal destinations than UK ones and more didn’t have a clue about where some UK beach resorts were on the map.
Results showed that children were much more familiar with foreign beach resorts, with 78% of them owning a passport. 57% said that they had visited Spanish coastal resorts and 54% had been to France.
A look out the window will give you a clue as to why British beaches perform so badly with the under 12s. Where would you rather be? Wading through rain-sodden sand or lapping up gentle Mediterranean waves? Haven’t decided yet? These fantastic offers should help you make your mind up:
Los Angeles Car Hire: €16 per day
Fuerteventura Car Hire: €22 per day
Barcelona Car Hire: €23 per day
Prices quoted are based on a 7 day rental of a mini/economy sized vehicle booked by August 5th 2008.
