Budget Airline Passengers Flood Car Hire Desks in Rome
Car hire companies at Rome’s Ciampino Airport are preparing themselves for a deluge of customers following the seizure of an entire fleet of Terravision buses by local police.
Terravision is a British company that offers bus services from and to Ciampino Airport for passengers on budget airlines.
Commenting on the situation, Terravision’s marketing director Yakuta Rajabali said officers had boarded the vehicles, ordering passengers and their luggage off. As a result, several hundred passengers with valid tickets were stranded at Ciampino or in the centre of the city.
It is thought that some passengers may have also missed flights because of the disruption.
Terravision operates in 13 European cities. The company has been experiencing difficulties in Italy since 2006, when a rival Italian passenger service set up shop.
