Traffic Alert GPS On the Way for City Car Hire Drivers

Posted on July 02, 2008 by Fiona Hilliard

“Bye bye traffic, hello open road”.  The days of being stuck in traffic gridlock could soon be over thanks to a new satellite navigation device that is being developed by scientists at the University of Portsmouth.

The Congestion Avoidance Dynamic Routing Engine (Cadre) shares information from sat-nav systems in other vehicles to create a picture of how busy the roads are ahead.  Using the data it collects, the system can interpret the live information and warn drivers of queues ahead and how to avoid them.

The new technology is good news for car hire drivers intent on getting to their destination asap.
