Looking for a last minute bargain break? Take our advice: Go Skiing! It just might be the cheapest holiday out there right now.
Huge demand at the end of the 2007-2008 ski season resulted in a flurry of bookings by over-optimistic tour operators. Then the economic crash struck, leaving thousands of ski holidays unsold.
The downturn in bookings has led to an avalanche of cost-cuts, with cheap ski deals falling to the ground quicker than a first-timer on the nursery slopes.
Just take a look at what Argus Ski is offering:
Chamonix 2* SC 07 Mar €160
Les Arcs 1800 4* SC 07 Mar €270
Val d’Isére 4*SC 07 Mar €312
Les Arcs 1800 2*SC 07 Mar €139
Mayrhofen 3*B&B 21 Mar €350 €240
Söll 3* SC 21 Mar €230 €120
Unless otherwise stated, prices are based on a 7 night stay including accomodation and in-resort reps. Click here for more ski deals.

Just booked a late ski beak for March? If you’re heading to Austria with the kids, there’s an essential piece of equipment you’ll now need to bring.
A new law requiring all children under the age of 15 to wear a helmet on the slopes is to be introduced into law at 23 ski resorts in Lower Austria with effect from 20th March.
The safety call comes following the death of a mother in a high-speed collision-the 17th skier to die in an accident on the piste in Austria this season.
Italy was the first European country to insist that children wear helmets on the ski slopes in January 2005. Any child under 14 years of age caught without a helmet faces a fine of €70-€150. It is unknown yet whether there will be a similar fine in Austrian resorts.

You’ve packed up your skis, sorted your salopettes and your new ski goggles are so shiny they double-up as a mirror. You’re itching to take to the slopes and you can’t wait to put all your gear to the test. What you may not have prepared for however is the new rules and regulations that go hand in hand with driving to your ski resort. Today Argus Car Hire is highlighting the new road safety regulations in France - essential information for France car hire customers.
From 1st October 2008 all drivers in France, including drivers of vehicles registered outside of France must have one warning triangle and one reflective jacket in their vehicle. Please ensure that your rental car has been supplied with one.
The fine for not carrying either items of safety equipment varies between 90 and 135 euros.
Drivers should also ensure that their vehicles have been equipped with replacement bulbs.
By law, snow chains must be fitted to vehicles that are using snow-covered roads, in compliance with the relevant road sign.
Dipped headlights should be used in poor daytime visibility. The French government recommends that 4+ wheeled vehicles use dipped headlights day and night.
