Looking for a last-minute holiday with the kids but feeling the credit crunch?  Italy and Greece could be right up your street. According to a survey by Post Office Travel Services, Italy and Greece are the cheapest destinaions for family breaks.

In Italy, the Colosseum in Rome and the Pompeii near Naples offer a kids-go-free policy, while Greek tourist sites such as the Acropolis, Knossos and Mount Olympus are also free for under-19s.

Heading further afield, Thailand and South Africa  proved to be the best value far-flung destinations, while Turkey offered excellent value in Europe.
