City Break Demand Weakens

Travel company Thomas Cook has recorded a downturn in demand for short breaks. The firm is reporting that bookings from ski trips and beach holidays have both remained strong in the UK, with increased interest in Germany and Norway, but sales of short city breaks are easing off.
Commenting on the downward trend, chief executive Manny Fontenla Novoa said:
“There are some signs that (demand for short breaks) is slowing down.” However, the company’s recent takeover of Hotels4U can only mean a future market blitz.
In an age of booming internet holiday bookings, Thomas Cook is eager to increase its online presence. According to a company spokeswoman, the travel agent plans to advertise Hotel 4U’s offers within its high street outlets.
