City of Love Voted Quarrel Capital

According to a survey carried out by Teletext Holidays, one in three Britons have chosen Paris as the city most likely to cause them to argue on a romantic getaway.  Couples cited ‘the greyness’, ‘difficulty in navigating the city’ and ‘poor restaurant service’ as row triggers.

Exotic Marrakech in Morocco was voted as the second most likely place to cause a falling-out while Amsterdam’s liberal charms see it as the third most probable destination for a ding-dong.

One in ten of the 2,310 people questions revealed that they ended their relationship with their partner while on holiday.  However, one quarter of respondents decided to propose while on a romantic city break.

Trendy Catalonian city Barcelona topped the list for romance, followed by Florence, Prague and Madrid.

Managing director of Teletext Holidays Matt Cheevers offered the following advice:  “The key to a romantic trip is preparation – spend time online researching your trip before you go away.”  “Speak to friends and colleagues about their experiences to ensure that you make the best of your destination and hopefully keep arguments to a minimum.”
