Clickair Launches Vigo Route

Posted on July 01, 2008 by Fiona Hilliard

Car Hire Vigo customers will have a lot more change in their pockets in future as Spanish budget carrier Clickair has just announced plans to start flying between Gatwick and Vigo in northern Spain.

The new routes will be the first time that there has been a direct air route between London and Spain’s Pontevedra province in southern Galicia.
Flights are due to operate on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays on an Airbus A320.

The airline is due to carry 60,00 passengers on the route, which will be its sixth Spaish service from the Uk, in its first year of operation.  The airline already flies from the UK to Seville, Bilbao, Valencia, La Coruna and Barcelona.

So, why then Vigo?  Vigo is known for its historic buildings and active ports.  Its airport, Peinador has recently undergone significant infrastructure improvements in anticipation of the new service.
