So you’ve just booked your €15 per day Malaga car hire*, where do you plan on going? Consider the following day trip destinations…

1. Granada:

Situated on seven hills below the Sierra Nevada, Granada offers a unique setting.  Located 120km to the northeasr of Malagam Granada is characterised by its dramatic Alhambra complex, where the beautiful palaces, fortress and gardens make for fantastic photo ops.

2. Antequera:

Situated 45km to the north of Malaga, close to Seville, Granada and Cordoba, Antequera has a fantastic heritage including some of the most famous Neolithic dolmens in Europe, Roman arhitecture and Baroque churches.

3. Marbella and Puerto Banús:

Check out the ritzy side of the Costa del Sol and take a trip to Marbella and Puerto Banús, 56km to the west of Malaga.  Marbella has a pretty old town, complete with traditional whitewashed houses and cobbled lanes.  The beach is surrounded by hotels and restaurants which are busy for most of the year, given the mild climate  Be sure to take a stroll around the harbour to check out the shiny yachts.

4. Mijas:

Way up in the hills above the Mediterranean. 28km to the west of Malaga, Mijas is a beautiful village complete with whitewashed houses, flower-filled balconies, compact squares and stepped laneways.  The oval bullring and adjoining museums are must sees.
 

5. Nerja Caves:

He town of Nerja is situated 52km to the east of Malaga and is a tranquil resort with a fascinating old town and popular fish restaurants on Burriana beach.  The caves, which were discovered in 1959 are thought to be around 225 million years old.  Concerts take place in summer in one of the largest cavities known as the Waterfall Hall.  Special highlights include a column that is 60 metres high.
