Tired of paying over the odds for your rental car? Saving money on car rental is easy when you’re in the know. Follow these tips and you’ll never look back:
Book in Advance
Booking your rental car up to two months before your travel date will save you the stress of shopping around at the last minute. But that’s not all. Booking early will also save you quite a bit of money and you’ll get your first choice of vehicle rather than settling for the dregs. Â
Avoid Airports
Airport-related taxes can add 10 percent or more on to the price of a rental car. Most destinations offer both an airport and city centre choice. If you’ve got the choice, book your rental car in the city centre and take the bus or underground to the rental office. For the cost of a bus/train ticket you’ll be surprised at how much your rate will drop.Â
Check Your Insurance
If you have collision and liability on the car you own, it probably won’t be necessary for you to purchase additional insurance for a short break or holiday. A quick phone call to your insurance company will save you from purchasing insurance at the airport.Â
Go Green
Hybrid cars may sound economical in theory but take our word for it, they are a lot more expensive to rent than conventional cars. That is until you decide to set out on a cross-country road trip. Think about the journey you’re planning and decide whether the extra cost will pay for itself in terms of fuel efficiency.Â
