French Tour Companies Offer Refunds for Rain

Posted on July 23, 2009 by Fiona Hilliard

We’ve heard of holiday companies doing all sorts to drum up business this summer, but over in France, they’re really going out on a limb.

Believe it or not, French tour operators are offering travellers a money-back guarantee if the sun refuses to make an appearance during their summer break.

Anyone who provides proof of rain for the last four days of their holiday will be in line for a ‘significant refund’ according to a spokesman for the insurance company Aon France.

Holiday companies already signed-up to the offer include Pierre & Vavances (Peter & Holidays) and FranceLoc.

There’s a slim chance of tourist boards around the UK following down the same path – proof of sunshine might be a bit more appropriate, if the latest weather reports are anything to go by.

Apparently this week’s washout is set to continue into the next few weeks, with more showery weather predicted.

Looks like a good time to book a holiday.  France anyone?
