Further Heathrow Flight Disruptions Expected

Argus Car Hire passengers due to fly into Heathrow Airport should note that further cancellations and delays are expected today after a British Airways aircraft skidded short of one of the airport’s runways yesterday.
136 passengers were on board the Boeing 777 when it crash-landed en-route from Beijing. Nobody was seriously injured in the incident. The accident caused the airport to close for 30 minutes yesterday and flights were moved to the airport’s northern runway until 14.30, when the southern runway re-opened for departing aircraft only.
The disruption meant over 220 short haul flights were cancelled and twenty four aircraft were diverted to other airports.
An investigation is already underway by the Air Accidents Investigation Branch. British Airways chief executive, Willie Walsh has said it would be ‘inappropriate to speculate’ about the likely cause of the accident.
