As soon as you’ve booked your flights to Auckland, you should start shopping around for your campervan.  You should have your exact pick up and drop off times and dates ready so that you will be able to provide this information in the booking engine of the campervan hire site.

The berth size that you select will depend on how many people are travelling in your group.  Campervans vary in size from 1 to 9.  Choosing the right campervan to suit your situation is probably the most important part of the booking process.  After all, you don’t want to be squashed together in a tiny campervan, Father Ted style.

When it comes to picking up and dropping off your campervan, you should allow an hour for safe collection and return of the vehicle.

When picking up the vehicle, bring along your passport, driver’s licence, confirmation of your booking and signed terms and conditions.

Before setting off, take some time to familiarise yourself with the workings of the campervan.  You should also find out what type of fuel your vehicle uses and check for any existing scratches or damage in case you are charged for these.
