Important Message for Car Hire France Customers
Posted on October 02, 2008 by Fiona Hilliard
Argus Car Hire is advising customers who have booked car hire in France to be aware of changes made to French law in relation to driver safety.
From 01 October 2008, it is compulsory for all drivers to carry a warning triangle in their vehicles and display the triangle at the scene of an accident or break-down. It is also compulsory for drivers to wear yellow visibility vests when standing outside of their vehicle at the scene.
In typically French fashion, Karl Lagerfeld, designer to the stars, models one of the jackets for the awareness campaign “C’est jaune, c’est moche, ça ne va avec rien, mais ça peut vous sauver la vie.” Rough translation: “It’s yellow, ugly, and it doesn’t go with anything, but it can save your life.”
Argus Car Hire’s suppliers provide warning triangles and high visibility vests free of charge with rentals in France, helping you to stay safe on the roads.
Drivers who fail to abide by new legislation will be subject to fines ranging from €90 to €135.
