Posted on February 25, 2008 by Fiona Hilliard
Good news if you’re due to fly in or out or even over Ireland in the next week. The Irish airport strike by air traffic controllers scheduled for Thursday has been called off.
The strike would have affected all flights in and out of Ireland, as well as flights using Irish air space.
IMPACT, the union involved maintains that the dispute is about staff shortages, but the Irish Aviation Authority insists it is about increased payments for overtime.
Talks aimed at resolving the row got underway at Dublin’s Labour Court at 10 am.
