So you’ve saved big on London car hire, but what else can you do for little or nothing in the British capital?

Become an Audience Member:

Free tickets are always a safe bet.  The BBC provides free tickets for BBC TV and Radio shows.  All you have to do is fill out forms online and you will be sent tickets two weeks before the show begins.  If you’re more of a last-minute type, you can secure tickets by calling the BBC on 020 85761227.

http://www.tvrecordings.com/ is another reliable site. All you have to do is register, choose a show, print an e-ticket then take yourself along to the studios.

Go Dancing:

Ever dreamt of tripping the light fantastic, “Dancing with the Stars” style?

Even if you’re broke you can still get into the groove at Covent Garden’s  Salsa! Bar and Restaurant.  Get there on Friday at 6.30pm or Sunday at 7pm.  The price of a drink will cover your lesson.

Catch a Free Gig:

London is famous for its music scene, but tickets to big shows can be pricey.  With some careful planning however, you’ll be privy to some of the best acts in town, without spending a penny.

For one, the world’s biggest crowd pleasers can be seen rocking out at the HMV store on Oxford Street.

If you’re more into lazing on a sunny afternoon, check out Covent Garden, where everyone from grungy guitarists to high brow string quartets are showcasing their talents for free.

Get Some Culture:

Watch the Changing of the Guard at Buckingham Palace: The Mall is by far the best vantage point, but you can also watch the pomp and ceremony from right outside Buckingham Palace, Green Park and the Victoria Memorial in the middle of the roundabout right in front of the palace. Don’t forget the camera!
