New Zealand Named World’s Greenest Destination

It’s official: New Zealand is the world’s greenest destination. It wasn’t the country’s lush forests or its famous Lord of the Rings backdrop that sealed the deal however. The presiding panel of judges at this month’s World Travel Market found the antipodean country to be best destination for its national, strategic approach to responsible tourism.
Speaking at the ceremony, the judges said: “New Zealand has implemented many of the principles of the Cape Town Declaration on responsible tourism in destinations where national government can achieve-working with the private sector, local communities and local government by harnessing tourism to benefit their people and their envirionment. If more national governments followed their example, tourism would make a much more positive contribution to the world.”
Argus Car Hire has always been a strong advocate of greener travel. Just last month, we launched ArgusGreen, a new interactive feature allowing car rental customers to learn about ways to cut down on their carbon footprint. By following a few simple tips, drivers can change their impact on the environment and save money and fuel at the same time.
