No Chance of Indian Summer: Forecasters

Posted on September 23, 2008 by Fiona Hilliard

Weathermen all over the country warned yesterday that there is no real chance of an Indian summer, despite last weekend’s glorious burst of sunshine.

Downpours are expected in many places across the UK today.  Commenting on the dreary forecast, A Met Office spokesman said:

“There are no signs of an Indian summer ahead, especially in the eastern part of the country, which could see some rain this week.  It will however be a bit sunnier in the West.’

The UK has had two disasterous summers in a row and last year we saw the worst floods for decades.
Some optimists however are willing to wager that there’ll be a better result next year.  Bookmakers William Hill is offering odds of 8-1 on a 100f (38c) heatwave next summer.

If like us, you’d rather not leave things up to chance, you might want to think about booking your sunny getaway now.
