Ryanair Fights Back Over Price Concerns

Posted on February 27, 2008 by Fiona Hilliard

Ryanair has hit out at claims that it is breaching Office of Fair Trading standards, arguing that it has fully complied with the Office of Fair Trading’s pricing rules.

The budget carrier says it is now displaying prices inclusive of taxes, fees and charges on its website after making changes to the site at the weekend.

A spokesperson said that due to ‘bedding problems’ it was only able to display the correct prices today.

The airline has apologised to its customers for technical problems which have temporarily reduced access to the site.

Commenting ion the situation, Ryanair’s head of communications Peter Sherrard said:

“We are continuing to make significant progress with the cut over to the New Skies system.  However we expect further bedding down problems over the next day or two and we ask all our passengers to be patient with us, as we complete the largest ever software changeover undertaken by any airline, anywhere in the world.”

ABTA is rejecting Ryanair’s latest claims, however saying: “It’s not until you’ve selected your actual flight that you see the inclusive price.  We don’t believe this is in line with the OFT’s guidelines.”
