Ryanair’s £10 Transatlantic Flights

If Michael O’ Leary fell into a bucket of horse manure he’d most probably spring back onto his feet, brush himself down and somehow still manage to come up smelling of roses.
Despite reporting a 47% loss in first-half profits, O’ Leary is plotting to benefit from further consolidation among Europe’s airlines, as well as an ambitious plan to launch a transatlantic carrier.
He has already predicted that the airline industry in Europe will eventually be dominated by four main players, including, Ryanair.
Yesterday the no frills airline boss said his new transatlantic venture, which would have no connection with Ryanair would offer an economy class fare from £10 one way and would offer business/premium class rates from between £1000 and £1500.
The question on everyone’s lips at the moment is WHEN?
O’ Leary says if the new venture could acquire a fleet of 50 to 60 long-haul aircraft cheaply over the next 18 months, the venture could be up and running 12 to 18 months later.
Who knows, it might even be in time for London hosting the Olympics in 2012. Imagine how much money you’d save if you booked your car hire with Argus and flew to London with Ryanair!
