In Spain, thousands of Spanish lorry drivers are on the warpath over the rising price of diesel, which has already increased by 20% this year.
The drivers began a strike at midnight and many have disrupted traffic at one of the border crossings between Spain and France.Â
Around 200 lorry drivers parked their vehicles beside roadside tollbooths in the Catalonian town of La Jonquera next to the border with France.
The majority of the 90,000 hauliers taking part in the strike are self-employed or employed by small and medium-sized haulage companies. They have warned that if the strike continues, many supermarkets will run out of goods within days. There are also fears that petrol supplies may be disrupted.Â
The drivers are calling on the Spanish government to establish a minimum price for their services.
