The Association of British Insurers (ABI) is urging British tourists planning to explore the Spanish Costas with car hire Alicante to book their rental car with a well-known supplier.

Spokesperson for the ABI, Malcolm Tarling has advised tourists that it is ‘sensible’ to choose one of the better-known providers. 

He says:  “If you arranged to hire with a local car hire company, they’d be perfectly reputable but won’t necessarily know anything about your lack of cover.”
He went on to say that more eminent car hire firms tend to have a network of “reputable associates and offices” in the majority of European countries.  Mr Tarling concluded with the following advice:  “When renting a hire car, the obvious thing to do is opt for a reputable company.”
