TV funnyman and Twitter guru Stephen Fry has been voted as the number one travel companion that most people would like to take away with them.
The host of QI was number one in a list of celebrities that passengers would like to share a trip with on weekend getaway. He finished just ahead of Prince Harry in the poll for National Rail.
Smile singer Lily Allen was third most popular in the list of travel buddies.
And now for the interesting bit- the ones you wouldn’t want sitting anywhere near you…
According to the survey, blacklisted travel companions include: Boom-town brat Peaches Geldof, rapper Dizzee Rascal, the whole of N-Dubz and former London mayor, Ken Livingstone.
Meanwhile, Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger was also earmarked as the travel neighbour people would love to hate.
The survey was carried out to encourage more people to travel by rail, especially to Britain’s neglected beach resorts.
England’s best kept secret beaches…and how to get to them!
Harlyn Bay, Padstow, Cornwall
This sandy beach is famous for its sandy dunes and dramatic rocky cliffs. It’s a real must for any would-be surfer or beach lay about looking to check out the local scenery with Cornwall car hire.
Follow the A30 from the M5 westbound and then take a right turn for Padstow. Follow the coast road B3276 towards Newquay. You’ll find Harlyn Bay is the second turn right.
Hemsby, Winterton on Sea, Norfolk
This 3km beach is unspoilt and dotted with naturally occurring dunes and rock pools which are ideal for keeping children busy.
Winterton on Sea is situated on the Norfolk Coast, just 25 minutes drive from Norwich. It can be easily reached via the M11, A12 and A14.
Filey, Scarborough, Yorkshire
Filey has an historic promenade with a lovely sandy beach that is both close to the charming local seaside towns and the rock pools.
From York take the A64 to Staxton and then the A165 to Filey.
