We’re fifty this year.  Yes, the big Five-O.  Doesn’t time fly?  It’s a whole half a century since Argus Car Hire rented out our first car from our fleet in Dublin, Ireland.  In that time, the travel industry has been through some serious changes.  The world has become a smaller place and technology has played a major part.  If we were to sit down and think about what the greatest leap in the world of travel has been, I’m sure we’d come up with 1.Internet, 2. online check-in and 3.  hmm maybe  GPS navigation?

We must be on a totally different wavelength to those who took part in a survey carried out by BudgetTravel.com.  In the process of researching the top 10 most important travel improvements over the past fifty years, their participants found the humble roller bag to be the number one technological advancement.  The wheelie trolley bag won out over online booking and travel review site, TripAdvisor to scoop the top award.
