TAP Strike Threat

Posted on August 27, 2009 by Fiona Hilliard

It’s not just UK customers who need to worry about delays this weekend.  Those who’ve booked car hire in Portugal may find themselves similarly displaced as strike action by ground staff at TAP threatens to disrupt flights to Portugal this weekend.

If the work stoppages go ahead as planned, they will affect ground operations at all Portuguese airports, resulting in possible delays and flight cancellations.

Passengers who need to fly on the days of the threatened strike are encouraged to travel (if possible) with hand luggage only.

Those looking to change flights may do so free of charge.

Changes of date are subject to availability on passenger’s chosen flights and may be done by calling TAP at 0845 601 0932.

Anyone choosing to cancel their travel plans is advised to do so by contacting their travel service provider.

The latest statement from the airline says: “Though currently at a deadlock, TAP management is conservatively optimistic that all parties involved would return to the negotiating table, enabling them to reach an agreement amenable to all concerned, thus averting a possible work stoppage.

The airline also apologises to its customers for any inconvenience and flight disruptions that the strike may cause.”
