Ten Reasons to Rent a Holiday Home

Over at Travel Rants, Darren Cronian is letting off steam about why he thinks you shouldn’t rent a holiday home abroad. Obviously struggling, he came up with just five reasons. Only five? Is that all he could scrape together?
Well, I’ll see your 5 and raise you 10…reasons why it’s a good idea to rent a holiday home abroad:
1. You don’t get woken by the maid at 8.30 am
2. You don’t have to put up with tacky resorts/cheap entertainment/measly breakfasts
3. You get to see what it would be like to actually move abroad and how you would cope without a mini-market on your doorstep
4. You mix more freely with locals
5. It’s much cheaper, especially if there’s a group of you
6. If there is a large group of you, you get to stay together under one roof
7. If you’ve got children, you don’t need to worry about them causing a scene at breakfast/at the pool/at the bar
8. If you don’t have kids you’ve got peace and quiet
9. You don’t have to look at the same sunburnt/gobby/obnoxious holidaymakers everyday at breakfast or by the pool
10. You get to come and go as you please, without fear of being locked out by the dozing night porter
And another thing, car hire in Spain is only expensive at peak holiday periods. FYI, at the moment there are fantastic deals to be found, especially if you’re planning on catching some winter rays in the Canary Islands or the Costa del Sol.

I think #9 conflicts with #6
But otherwise a great, light hearted response to TravelRants

Ha! I kind of know what you mean, but I suppose you’ve chosen to holiday with the ones staying under your roof:)

Hi Darren, no worries, it happens us all – nice topic for a post, Holiday Homes don’t usually get that much of a look in on travel blogs!:)
