On the Road Again

And so to Ile d’Orleans.  Renting a car in Canada made all the difference.  Finally we were free to check out the famously vast Canadian wilderness.  It was my turn to drive.  Toto was navigating-I say Toto was navigating but it was mostly the GPS.  Okay, it was a joint effort.  Anyway, we planned to visit Ile d’Orleans.  It’s an island where you get to see typical Canadian stuff like buffalo farms and whole stores specialising in just maple syrup.  It’s a nice drive from Quebec.  You cross the Pont de l’Île bridge to the Chemin Royal.  Once on the island, we made our way to the little village of Sainte-Pétronille, where we got some great shots of Montmorency Falls…unfortunately they were later deleted.  Let’s not name names though!

We couldn’t leave Ile d’Orleans without trying some of the local cuisine.  We were starving anyway.  Since we got here everyone was saying have you tried ‘poutine’? Roughly translated it means ‘a mess’.  It’s French fries layered with cheese and gravy.  Sounds weird I know, but I gave it a go.  Anyway, when was I going to be in Quebec again?  My verdict? “God bless this mess!” With bellies full it was on to Montreal…….
