Embarking on your first road trip abroad with campervan hire?  If you’re travelling from the UK, you’ll discover a few differences.  The following are some essential facts that you should keep in mind:

Don’t Drink And Drive:

Blood-alcohol limits vary from country to country and are not always the same as in Britain, (usually around 50mg or a single glass of wine on the Continent, compared with 80mg in the UK.)  In some countries the limit is just 20mg.  Our advice to you is to avoid alcohol completely while driving to save yourself a lot of hassle.

Get up to Speed on Limits:

Many European Union countries allow much higher maximum speeds than in Britain, but these limits are lowered during wet weather.  Take special care driving your car hire vehicle during inclement conditions, you don’t want any nasty accidents ruining your holiday or costing you at the drop-off point.

Get Yourself on the Map:

Drivers are advised to plan routes in advance at all times.  With petrol as expensive as it is these days, you don’t want to be wasting valuable fuel driving up dead ends and taking wrong turns.   Useful, free online route-finders can be easily accessed and make crumpled-up maps a thing of the past.  Check out: www.greenflag.co.uk/routeplanning.
