Expect to see a lot more Travelodge hotels popping up in UK cities this year. The budget chain has announced that it is set to open 26 new hotels in 2010.
Locations with new hotels in the pipeline include Edinburgh and London – good news if you’re heading to a match, show or conference in the coming months.
This story isn’t that surprising really given the times we live in and the type of service the brand offers. Ever since talk of the credit crunch broke, demand for quality budget hotel accomodation the UK has risen because of the continued growth in “staycations” as well as business travellers looking to reduce their travel costs.
All new hotels are set to be in busy town or city centre locations, or in popular seaside locations such as Colwyn Bay and Morecambe.
So successful is the Traveloge brand, that they’ve recently snapped up six struggling mid-market hotels in the hope that they can turn their fortunes around by giving them the Travelodge treatment.
When it comes to budget lodgings, it really is a case of branding equals consumer confidence. Only last week, TripAdvisor published its latest dossier of the UK’s dirtiest hotels. Not one of the filthy top ten were part of a well-known chain. In fact, all are privately run. The thing is, at least when you book with a hotel chain like Travelodge, you know what you’re getting, you can expect a certain standard of service and professionalism, with no nasty surprises.
