A combination of no-frills airlines, stag parties and Eurovision wins has seen Latvia’s popularity as a tourist destination skyrocket in recent years.  Boozy weekends in Riga are by no means the be all and end all of Latvia tourism, however.
They say fortune favours the bold and this is true of anyone adventurous enough to rent a car in Latvia.

Latvia is home to some of the most scenic landscapes in Europe.  Pretty towns and villages worth sat-navving include Jurmala, Sigulda and Kilduga.  These are just suggestions of course, with Latvia car hire, you are free to explore beautiful countryside, as well as medieval castles and countless other charming little towns.

If you’re flying into the capital, Riga, hold your horses on heading straight to the nearest bar – instead take a scenic drive out along the coastline. Here you can appreciate the dramatic scenery of Baltic Sea coastline and the Gulf of Riga. Anyway, all that sea air will help you work up an appetite for a night on the town later on.

Riga itself is a fascinating city that offers many fine examples of architecture.  Don’t forget your camera if you’re visiting the Krimulda Church or the Dome Cathedral, meanwhile the Open Air Ethnographic Museum, the Art Nouveau Gallery and the Museum of Occupation of Latvia provide interesting glimpses into the nation’s past.

Won over by the idea of Latvia car hire? You’ll find the most convenient place to pick-up is Riga Airport.

Petrol stations are well-equipped and widespread, most open 24-hours a day, For best value check out Statoil, Neste, Shell and Lukoil.
