Where to Rent a Car in Alicante Airport

As it’s one of the busiest car rental hubs in Spain, car hire in Alicante airport can prove to be a stressful experience, especially during peak travel times such as Christmas.  If you’ve never rented a car in Alicante airport, you may be apprehensive about the idea of picking up your rental car in such a hectic airport, but don’t worry -once you know where you’re going, the whole transaction should only take a few minutes.

Before leaving for the airport, make sure you have your driver’s licence, rental confirmation voucher and your credit card.  You may have booked your vehicle using a debit card but very few companies will accept debit cards when it comes to payment at the rental desk.  Having all your documents in order will lessen any further delays.

Alicante Airport car hire desks are located in the Arrivals Hall, next to baggage re-claim.  They are well sign-posted.  It may sound obvious but always double-check your rental car voucher to make sure you are queuing for the right agent.  There’s nothing worse than finding out that you’ve spent the last 10 minutes waiting in line for the wrong company.  We all make mistakes, especially when we’re tired, so it’s worth being that bit more careful.

If travelling as a group or with family, you should think about designating one or two of the group to wait and collect the luggage while the licence holder/(s) sign for the rental car with the agent at the desk.

During peak travel periods, car hire queues can be long and waiting times can reach 30 minutes – 45 minutes.  By sharing out the airport jobs, you can be first in line and have your rental car ready and waiting to pick up your luggage and group.
