We recently received a query from a customer called Bryan who is planning to travel to Dublin, Ireland  in March:

Hello,

I plan to travel to Ireland this March.  I will be flying into Dublin, but will not need a car right away, so renting from the airport probably doesn’t make the most sense.  Where would the most convenient location within the city be to rent the car?  I see you have several locations.  I’m in the process of making all of my lodging plans, so I don’t have a specific area determined.  I will most likely be staying wherever the most attractions/pubs/museums are located.  I will be using the rental car to travel the rest of the country.

Thank you for your time and I look forward to booking through your company,
Bryan

Fiona’s response:

Hi Bryan

Thanks for your question.  Fortunately, you have a choice of pick up locations for Dublin car hire.  Aside from Dublin airport, your options include:

Dublin South City: Baker’s Corner, Deansgrange, Dublin
Dublin North Side: 151 Lr Drumcondra Road, Dublin 9
Dun Laoghaire: Pottery Road, Dun Laoghaire
Dublin City Centre: Russell Street, Dublin 1

Since you’re looking to experience Dublin’s popular tourist sights and pubs first, your best option is to stay in the city centre and book your car hire from our city centre car hire agency.  When you arrive in Dublin, you can simply take a taxi or Airlink bus from the airport to your hotel.  You’ll then be free to explore all of Dublin’s attractions (Temple Bar, Grafton Street and St Stephen’s Green pubs, the museums of Kildare Street, National Gallery, Merrion Square, the Spire on O’ Connell Street, Guinness Store House and Kilmainham Gaol) either by foot or by Luas light rail on the first few days of your trip.  Might I add, March is a wonderful time to visit Dublin, with the St. Patrick’s Festival in full swing in the city.

When you decide to see the rest of the country, take a taxi to our city centre car rental agency on Russell Street. It is close to Heuston Station/Phoenix Park and on the road to the west, so it will give you a good starting point for exploring the rest of the country, while also avoiding traffic.

If you haven’t booked your accommodation in the city centre, let me explain that the Dublin South Side and North Side pick-up points are located a short distance outside of the city centre and may suit you if you don’t wish to drive in the capital.  Dun Laoighaire is also located on the south-side, (on the coast) and may be convenient if you are planning to visit the Dublin Bay area or indeed, Co. Wicklow during your stay.

I hope this information proves useful to you!
