Would You Fly to New York with Ryanair?

Posted on September 25, 2008 by Fiona Hilliard

Exorbitant baggage charges, frantic seat scrambles, shoddy transfer services…flying short haul with Ryanair is an endurance test at the best of times.  So how does a 7-hour flight on the no-frills carrier grab you?  Seriously, it’s a distinct possibility.

The budget airline is currently considering flights from three UK airports to New York.
If all goes to plan, Ryanair will use some of the 15 long haul aircraft that Aer Lingus has on order for its low cost transatlantic service.

Already the airline has earmarked Stansted, Prestwick and Birmingham as potential bases for the new transatlantic flights.

Ryanair first mooted the idea of budget transatlantic flights over a year ago.  Plans are now said to be in their advanced stages.

The mind boggles at what we can expect from Ryanair’s latest venture…BYOB/breakfast/lunch/dinner, pay per view in-flight movies…I could go on and on…but we want to know what you think.  Let us know your suggestions by leaving a comment!
